Ask me. I won't bite. Unless you annoy me.

Yarn in a tangle? Stash getting out of hand? Rib stitch not as rib-tickling as you first imaged?

Fear not! Gertrude Woolsworthy is on hand to unwind your problems and get right to the yarn-flavoured heart of the problem. Gerty is Stitch London’s moral compass and pink fluffy Yoda.

To ask Gerty a question simply:

Please note: If you have a technical knitting question you might want to read Gerty’s response to these questions first. It isn’t pretty

Go on. Ask Gerty. You know you want to.

  1. DEAR GERTY

JUST BOUGHT A KNITTED WRAP THAT IS BLACK ONE SIDE AND RED THE OTHER – THEY ARE NOT SEPARATE PIECES SOWN TOGETHER. THERE MUST BE A WAY OF HAND KNITTING THIS AFFECT – ANY CLUES?

    MANY THANKS

    JUNE

    • Dear June,
I’m sure there is, but I would suggest the easiest way of achieving this effect would be with a red wrap and a can of black aerosol paint. Make sure you use a well ventilated room and don’t get any paint in your martini.
      Lots of love,
      Gerty

  2. Dear Gerty

Do I have to sell my soul to get a life? My mother has gone mad, DH is a raving hypochondriac, his DD is a complete PITA.

My only pleasures come from buying and fondling yummy yarns and the odd large glass of C2H5OH, red or white or mixed or fizzy.

ps if the answer to the first question was yes, then please can you send me the appropriate URL.

    • Dear CookKnitWine,
Did you hear abaout the dyslexic who tried to sell her soul to Satan and ended up with really good Christmas presents? You have booze, you have yarn, what’s the problem? Buy your DH a box of tissues and a small packet of paracetamol, banish his DD to her room, take the phone off the hook and enjoy the small pleasures in life as often as you can.
      Lots of wooly hugs,
      Gerty
